Horse education & training
We have all heard the term "breaking in" a horse. At HorseHand we prefer to call it starting and developing the horse.
The traditional way of "breaking" the horse is a thing of the past for us. We prefer to cause the horse to act in a way and then allow it to happen: cause and allow, as opposed to make and break. Get the difference?
We set things up so that it's easy for a horse to understand what it is we are asking him to do, and we focus on positive responses and reward tries. We develop the horse's confidence and willingness to cooperate and at all times try to keep the horse in a relaxed frame to encourage development of the left brain. Horses are creatures of habit, so we make sure we develop good habits right from the beginning.
We like to teach a horse to be calm and cooperative, and if this is developed early in the horse it is much easier to keep him there when things get stressful, such as learning new riding styles, getting ready for competition, changes in environment, or changes in handlers.
We love horses and that is why we give them the best start that we know how. We build a foundation so that your horse gets the chance to be the best he can be, nurturing his confidence and keeping his dignity intact. We understand that a horse will only be as good as his foundation training. That is why we take the time it takes for your horse to have a good understanding of his responsibilities.
If you would like your horse educated to ride, we can do it here at HorseHand and then guide you on the right path to keeping a good relationship with your horse in the saddle and on the ground.
